PALM KERNEL SHELL
Palm kernel shells (PKS) are the hard, fibrous byproducts left after the oil palm fruit is processed for oil extraction. They are characterized by their high calorific value, typically ranging from 4,000 to 4,500 Kcal/kg, and low ash content, generally less than 3% by weight. PKS is a dense, irregularly shaped fragment with particle sizes normally ranging between 5 mm and 40 mm. These properties make PKS an efficient source of bioenergy, often co-fired with coal to reduce carbon emissions. Additionally, PKS can be used in the construction industry as a lightweight aggregate in concrete or a component in road construction
