Merbau (Kwila) wood for botanists is also known as Intsia bijuga, Intsia palembanica.
Native to the lowland forests of Asia, it has a reddish brown color, has a high oxidation (that changes color over time).
It may present small yellowish streaks inside it; these are mineral concretions absorbed by the soil during the growth of the plant. Equipped with a well-appreciated texture, it has a thick weave or wavy grain.
